Concealed veneered doors with a false transom
Tall SecretDoors concealed doors with a false transom: an ET GROUP project in Dubai
ET GROUP has completed the fit-out of a prime private villa in Dubai, UAE. At the heart of the interior concept are innovative concealed door systems that underline the status, scale and contemporary architecture of the residence.
The centrepiece of the project is a set of tall SecretDoors concealed doors with a false transom, finished to match the leaf and the surrounding wall elements exactly.
Architectural and technical highlights
1. Visually enlarged space and proportions
Tall doors combined with a false transom allowed the openings to be drawn visually right up to the ceiling. This architectural move created a powerful vertical axis within the interior, adding scale to the villa's monumental halls and living rooms.
2. The concealed frame and the invisible door effect
The SecretDoors system is installed flush with the wall, with no traditional architraves. Combined with an identical veneer finish, the leaf and the false transom read as a single unbroken panel. The door literally dissolves into the space, leaving only the refined hardware and a fine technical shadow gap in view.
3. SecretDoors engineering for tall leaves
Oversized leaves and a false transom call for uncompromising structural reliability:
- Reinforced aluminium frame: prevents sagging and distortion even at considerable leaf heights.
- High load-bearing concealed hinges: deliver smooth, silent movement and three-dimensional adjustment.
- Magnetic latches: guarantee a soft, elegant close without unnecessary noise.
4. Stability in the UAE climate
Dubai's climate is defined by high humidity outdoors and constantly running air conditioning (HVAC) indoors. ET GROUP specialists applied specialised material stabilisation technology and protective treatments, so the timber and veneer will not move over time.
The advantages of SecretDoors with a false transom
- Clean-line aesthetics: minimalist design with no superfluous details or projecting elements.
- Visual height: the effect of a monolithic floor-to-ceiling door without visually weighting the structure.
- Premium materials: natural veneers in fine species, high-precision metal profiles and premium Italian hardware.
ET GROUP delivers the complete cycle - from technical design to the architect's brief through to final installation on site in the UAE.
