PortaPivot engineering and pivot axis positions
The principal advantage of the Aludoors Pivot system is the absence of bulky door frames and hydraulic mechanisms recessed into deep floor pockets. The entire pivot mechanism is concealed within the aluminium profile of the leaf and is installed directly on top of the finished floor (without disturbing marble, parquet or microcement):
- Offset axis near the edge (180° opening): The classic pivot position, set slightly in from the wall. It provides the maximum clear opening width, two-way swing and visual simplicity.
- Central axis position (360° opening): The pivot mechanism is fitted exactly at the centre of the door leaf, turning the door into a striking piece of architectural sculpture that rotates freely in any direction.
- Integrated closer and 90° hold-open: The Belgian PortaPivot hinge features a built-in concealed door closer that eases the leaf smoothly back to the closed position, engaging from an opening angle of 70°. The design also provides a secure hold-open position at 90° in both directions — ideal for opening up spaces during events or when entertaining guests.
Materials, glazing and finish palette
Aludoors Pivot doors adapt readily to any stylistic brief thanks to an extensive choice of infills and finishes that withstand intensive air conditioning and the high solar exposure of the Gulf region:
• Toughened safety glass and laminated glass: Translucent infills in Graphite (deep graphite), Bronze (warm bronze), Satin (frosted), Fluted / Reeded Glass (architectural ribbed glass) and low-iron Diamond Glass;
• Decorative aluminium glazing bars: A surface-mounted rectangular profile (20×10 mm) allows bespoke geometric grids and classic glazing layouts to be applied to the glass;
• Premium anodising and powder coating: The aluminium frame is available in anodised finishes (matt black, brushed brass, bronze, silver) or powder coated with AkzoNobel (Netherlands) lacquers to the RAL / NCS ranges to match the wall panels and furniture.
